PROCEDURES WHEN MAKING IMPROVEMENTS and

RENOVATIONS TO YOUR BOROUGH PROPERTY

Borough residents and Borough business owners wishing to make improvements and renovations to their Borough property including, but not limited to sheds, garages, fences, additions to existing structures, are required to adhere to the Zoning Ordinance as enacted by the Carmichaels Borough Council on August 6, 2020.

The Zoning Ordinance and Application for a Zoning Permit are available on the Borough’s website:  carmichaelsboro.com

A Zoning Permit must be approved by the Zoning Officer prior to any Building Permits being issued.   Once the Zoning Permit has been issued, you will be directed to the Borough’s Engineering Firm if additional Building Permits are required.

Should construction, additions, or improvements commence without obtaining a Zoning Permit, you will be issued a Notice of Violation and Stop Work Order.  Any work done without Zoning approval could be ordered to be removed by the Court of Common Pleas if it is found to be in violation of the Zoning Ordinance.

Please be advised that Cumberland Township has no jurisdiction or authority to give any approvals on behalf of Carmichaels Borough.

If you are unsure if your property is within the Borough limits, or if you have any questions or need assistance regarding this process, please call the Borough Office during normal office hours, Monday and Friday  9:00 - 4:00   OR  you may email the Zoning Officer at:  Gordon15320@gmail.com
